First Class Machinist

OWI Group (Australia) Pty Ltd are pleased to let you know that a number of our clients have requirements for GOOD, QUALITY & Trade Qualified First Class Machinists. There are three positions currently available.

Details of the jobs are as follows:

Our client is seeking an experienced fitting supervisor or leading hand from a fitting background to lead a team of tradesman and general hands manufacturing a large range of butterfly valves for supply to the water industry. This is a hands on position that will require strong leadership and organisational skills.

In this leadership roll you will be responsible for ensuring productivity and quality as well as the day to day planning of the workshop and allocation of duties to the shop floor.

To apply for this position you will need:

• Trade certificate - Fitting & Machining.
• 10 Years trade experience.
• Strong trade skills and experience.
• 3+ years supervisory/leading hand experience in a workshop setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
• Ability to train others and develop work practices

Highly Desirable (but not essential):

• Valve assembly/refurbishment experience
• Experience with product testing and inspection
• Experience in the operation of manual machine such as lathes and radial drills
• Experience with SAP or similar programs
• Shop floor scheduling experience
• Safe operation of overhead cranes and associated accessories.
• Knowledge of Quality Systems and procedures.
• Strong Safety knowledge and practices.
• Product or work quoting/costing experience
